I Dark Tranquillity sono uno dei gruppi musicali ai quali sono più affezionato. I componenti della band sono tutti svedesi e il loro genere musicale è “Melodic Death Metal”. La canzone che vorrei recensirvi quest’oggi (che tralaltro è l’ultimo videoclip uscito) è Focus Shift.

“Focus Shift” è del 2007 e fa parte del ultimo album dei Dark Tranquillity che si chiama “Fiction”. Dire che è una canzone potente sarebbe riduttivo. Chi conosce un po i Dark Tranquillity sa benissimo infatti, che uno dei punti di forza del gruppo è proprio la grandissima carica che riescono a creare. Quando ascolti le loro canzoni è come se un fulmine ti attraversasse la mente e il corpo.

Il video tiene molto bene il ritmo velocissimo della canzone. Vediamo i Dark Tranquillity intenti a suonare e sbattersi come forsennati in una specie di tunnel/galleria. Da notare l’aggressività e l’espressività del cantante Mikael Stanne. Sicuramente una delle voci contemporanee più potenti. Il suo cantato in growl è veramente eccezionale.

Una piccola news non molto piacevole: Nicklasson, ovvero colui che ha suonato il basso con Stanne e company per 10 anni, lascia la band per “motivi personali”. Secondo me questa è una grande perdita in quanto, oltre a suonare bene, aveva un certo carisma, specie nei live.
